Washington D.C. Finale and Home

On the final day of our visit, Tommy took the day off work and school to spend with us. Sure was nice to have some helpful man hands. He begged me to let him push the double. I grudging let him take the reins.

Agenda: Pack in preparation to leave in the evening, saunter around the U.S. Capitol and reflecting pool (the kids had no interest in going inside), popcorn snack break, Library of Congress, early supper at IHOP, hit the road jack.

I don’t like to be reminded of those sunglasses, but I sure love my little brother.

Tommy and Xiaojun are such great tour guides. We went across the world to visit them in China and then across the country to visit them in D.C. Perhaps it’s their turn to meet us in Australia?!

My kids were tuckered out by this point. Miles is comforting Lyla who didn’t want to get out of the stroller for a photo. Late nights with cousins and long walks in the heat have added up.

Where’s the Capitol? Where’s the Library? Where’s the Monument? There! No, there! No, that way!

Was the drive home long? Oh my word YES!

And I did every bathroom, snack, meal, and night stop all on my own?! YES!

Would I do it again? To give these little ones the chance to have a little adventure and spend more time with our extended family? In a heartbeat!
