Washington D.C. #1
I must post these photos! Even without editing them, I’m going to get them up. We’ve been home for almost 2 months. It’s time to share these!
The agenda as we head to the National Mall: Washington Monument, The White House, Lafayette Park for snacks, lunch inside the Ronald Regan Building where we went through too many security check points, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History where we met up with my good friend Christine and her 4 boys, National Air and Space Museum, and dinner.
Our first day, we took the train into the National Mall. Getting to the train is an adventure before the real fun begins.
Never having been to D.C., we were in for a shock. It’s huge! The kids did great hiking around in the heat, but stopping for photos made them lose the little patience they had left. Understandable.
Department of the Treasury.
The White House!
My favorite photo of the trip. Masie, Lyla, Brickman, Lars, Noel, Miles and Lincoln. We love you so much.
It was very warm and very humid.
The BEAN in Masie’s hand caused us a whole lot of drama. Ask me or Xiaojun if you want to know the story.
These were taken outside the Old Post Office Tower by the IRS building.
Lyla is not really sleeping. Masie really is sleeping and was very annoyed with me when I woke her for dinner.
My sweet friend Christine. We haven’t seen each other for probably 10 years. We use to be room mates. She took the photos at my wedding. She drove down from Pennsylvania, so we could introduce our kids. Thanks Main family!
Poor little Lincoln dropped his sandal on the track as we got home late.
Because I’m the mother of several small children, I’ve learned some tricks to keeping everyone close to me. One trick is to have the child put their hand in my pocket or hold on to my purse if both my hands are already full. My sweet Masie loves to be the pocket holder; unfortunately she also can’t hold still and is very strong. So strong she can rip wholes in fabric. It was midmorning when I heard her say, “Do I have a hole in my bottom?” I was a bit confused and told her no. She just shrugged. It wasn’t until late afternoon that I figured out why she’d asked. She’d ripped a HUGE hole in the back of my capris! I walked nearly the entire National Mall with this big gap. No one told me. And I do a ton of bending over with these kids. When I realized my bum was hanging out, I bought a t-shirt and tucked it in the back of my pants to cover my rear. Masie did apologize. AH!!!
