Lars’s first home… the hotel

Lars got to spend the first week of his life in beautiful Utah. In June the weather in Utah is amazing. I would have considered staying longer and out of the Arizona heat if it didn’t mean we had to live in a hotel.

Nana (Luke’s mum) meeting her newest grandchild and Lars packed up and ready to leave the hospital.

Nana was our saving grace through this adoption. I was able to enjoy 2 full days in the hospital bonding with Lars while she (with some help from Luke) watched after the other kids in the hotel. Our young crew in a hotel is a ton of work. I kind of think she enjoyed herself though.

Thank you so much Monica!

Monica and David just happened to be visiting us from Australia the week that Lars was born. David stayed in AZ and helped manage the pool business while Monica flew with Luke and the kids to UT. I had flown to UT a few hours before them hoping to make it to Lars’s birth. Monica stayed with us till Thursday when she and David flew back to AUS.

Everyone enjoyed bonding with Lars in the little hotel room.

But we also needed to get out.

We made a quick drive south to Provo to visit my sister-in-law Xiaojun and the cousins.

Uncle Michael got his first look of baby Lars.

The kids and I took a walk-about around our hotel and found the Sandy Promenade Wetland just off the freeway. It was nice to get some fresh air.

Luke flew home Tuesday and returned to UT super early Friday morning driving my swagger wagon. He remained with me until we had clearance to go home.

We found a fantastic park where the kids slid, rolled, and ran their hearts out.

It was so windy. We loved it!
