Judge
We took advantage of a new Utah law. We were allowed to sign finalization papers in front of our judge so that we wouldn’t have to return in 6 months when we actually finalize.
Our attorney will be able to appear for us.
How awesome!
The judge we were originally assigned to had a conflicting relationship with our attorney’s office so we were lucky to have Judge Robert Hilder fill in the last minute for us.
And guess what!
The judge is Australian. How fun is that?
He was only supposed to step in for the day but he asked that he see our case through to finalization after learning Luke shared his nationality. Well, he probably fell in love with our kids too.
Kids patiently waiting in the court hallway and us in the judge’s chambers.
Please note I did not know about the new law or that we would be entering the courthouse until after we’d arrived in UT. I didn’t pack dress clothes or have the time to shop for them.
So don’t hold our casual appearance against me.
