LYLA is 2!!
Our sweet baby girl has officially become a toddler!
Here Lyla says “TWO!” Which is great because we’ve never ever been able to get her to say the number one.
Lyla remains our sweetheart. She’s also moved on to being a little pest to her older siblings. She’ll stick her feet on Masie’s legs just to get a rise or take off running with Miles’s pjs so he has to tackle her. She loves her baby and is always worried about him, watches him, and helps him. Lars is always taking toys from Lyla or pulling at her clothes or hair. No doubt Lyla will give a scream and a little fight to have her way, but she usually turns right around and gives him the toy he’s wanting. She doesn’t like for him to cry. I’ve been happy to see her strong will the last couple of weeks as she fights to get her way. Her daddy is not allowed to leave the house (even to walk to the outside garbage cans) without saying goodbye to her. She trails me everywhere and insists on helping or mimicking all I do. She loves shoes and pretty dresses. She’s our first to be super attached to a blankie. She’s a great shopper (unlike her sister). She can kick-kick-kick with the best of them even if she doesn’t move much in the water. I’ve signed her up for dance and am very excited to see her bust some choreographed moves. She loves her milk and insists on having a bite of whatever Luke or I am eating. She’s a happy helper. She’s learning to use the toilet and loves the pee-pee on the potty song I made up for her. She smiles and giggles a ton just not when the camera comes out. Boy she’s ticklish! We loves her so very, very much.
It’s embarrassing to take a photo of myself, but I’ve decided to get past my discomfort. I want to remember myself with my kids at this age. It’s either a self shot or no shot at all.
Isn’t she lovely.
Lyla had an entire day centered around her having fun.
We started early at Barnes & Noble. If you join the kid’s club, your child gets a free cookie on her birthday. That means they make a load of money off me because my other kids’ cookies aren’t free… or my cookie.
Then we (myself and Lyla’s siblings) took her to shop at Target where she found a pretty pink shopping cart. She pushed the cart all through the store with the other customers “ahhhhing” at her cuteness. Then she chose “chips” for lunch. That means fries from McDonald’s and her fill of playing in the play area.
Then home for naps. I fixed one of her favorites for dinner. Spaghetti. She loves all things pasta. Definitely our little Italian.
We finished the day with a front yard party with her good friend Teagan and our other neighbors.
Luke broke his wrist a few weeks ago. How fun is having a casted arm when you’re a pool man? It hasn’t stopped him from changing diapers, but I’ve taken over bath time.
Lyla received a load of cute outfits from her biological grandma. She insisted on trying each one on right there in the front yard. She’s layering them all on here.
Happy, happy year #2 Lovely Lyla!!
We have two 2 year olds under one roof for the next 6 weeks. What a trip!

I love how you spent the day around her and with her favorite things for her birthday.
