Beijing

Day #3

Travel: we split up – half got a lift to the airport shuttle – the other half walked to the mini bus stop: mini bus to bus station: bus to airport shuttle: back together we rode the airport shuttle to the airport: flight to Beijing: taxis to the hotel.

We had another sick girl in the middle of the night, but she seemed ready and willing to travel in the morning. Ready or not, we had a plane to catch!

We had a very early morning and were hustling so much to catch our flight that I didn’t pull out the camera until we planted our feet in our hotel in the late afternoon. Then we spent several hours (actually Xiaojun did) haggling to get the 5 star room we’d been guaranteed. The hotel wanted to set us up in one of their 3 star rooms (think old grungy Motel6, maybe their star ratings aren’t the same as in the States??), but that wasn’t going to fly. Xiaojun got things sorted out, and we found a Pizza Hut not too far away for dinner before we crashed in our comfy clean rooms.

The nearly 3 hour flight (with 2 hours commuting to get to the airport) was made more fun with all the cousins sitting together. We had some assistance through security where Luke took a sip from every one of our water bottles so that they could clear security. Nothing buy water folks.

The next several days of travel I’ll have to breakup into multiple posts to show you all the places we saw.

Stay tuned!
