Proud to be an American

I’m also proud of my family… and my cake.

Our awesome neighbor Bob organized a parade in the morning for us and the kids. He’s the one in the tall red and blue hat. We love him and he always gives special attention to our kids. I hope you have patriotic and friendly neighbors like we’ve got.

Lyla and Teagan… don’t they look like the All American best buddies?

(We let the kids ride without helmets since we were moving at a snail’s pace.)

We even had our own drummer “boy.”

Masie took her drumming very seriously.

Fireworks are illegal, even sparklers, in Chandler, so we had to make do with poppers. POP!

All 4 kids took 3 hour naps in the afternoon before our backyard party began. We had to wake everyone up! They had warn themselves out over the previous 3 days spent camping at Fool Hollow Lake.

I was sure my cake would crumble as soon as we cut into it. It turned out beautifully! And was really yum. I totally copied this blogger. Fun, huh?

It was a fairly quiet 4th of July for us. Most of my family that usually celebrates with us was out of town. We were fortunate enough to get my brother Richard and his wife Jena over to enjoy the pool and my cake.
