Fool Hollow

We spent last weekend camping with our friends the Taylors. They are a fun family and my kids love hanging out with them.

I was prepared for a showerless, outhouse adventure filled weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find the campground not only had water at our site but nice bathrooms with flushing toilets and showers!

The girls snuggled in their new Disney sleeping bags.

Miles was happy about the flushing toilets but the bugs in the bathroom still gave him pause. Proof he needs to do more camping!

This is Lyla right before she pooped her pants. Toilet training kind of goes out the door when you’re roughing it.

Lars was not impressed by the sliding bar and preferred a big hug from Dad. (That is not Luke’s hat, it’s Miles, so no making fun.)

We had a good hour on Fool Hollow Lake Saturday morning before the clouds rolled in and we rushed back to camp to close up our gear. It was just enough rain to keep it cool. Loved it!

Miles was unsure of the water especially after a grounds keeper warned of glass and hooks in the water. He also had a little spider run directly at him and scared the ba-geezes out of of him. He came running, “Mommmyyyy!” Like I’ve ever saved anyone from a spider. I put on a brave face for him.

Lyla was our water child of the day and loved swimming around with Luke.

Ari loved the water and took one good dunk all on her own.

Notice Lars lost his shoe… somewhere in the bush.

Our campsite was right on the edge of a cliff. This caused serious anxiety for both our families with many young kids. It was the perfect spot to throw rocks, and the boys enjoyed themselves.
