They might have all my time,

But they also have all my heart.

I know I should be posting photos of my true blue hubby Valentine, but we haven’t gone our date yet. We’re getting a night away this weekend. Romance will soon be in the air.

But, he did give me an early

gift

that has my heart pounding.

Love it!

Special Visitor

We had a very special visitor this past weekend.

We have open adoptions with all of our children’s birth families. Each with its own level of contact and communication.

I don’t often blog about their birth families because they are so special and so private in their own way. I want my children to talk about their biological families when they want to and share the details when they’re comfortable.

But I was given the ok to share some very special photos. We got to meet Lyla’s biological maternal grandma. This was her first time meeting Lyla. We had a fabulous time with her. We love her attention and love and advice.

How great is open adoption?? My children have so many people in their lives that love them and want the best for them.

Don’t they look alike? Lyla gets her Italian heritage from her biological grandma.

Lyla’s grandma was so sweet to go to the zoo with us. More helping hands are always welcome!

Sunday evening we had Lyla’s grandma and boyfriend over for dinner along with my family. I was a little nervous since my family is so ((LOUD)), but everyone got along great.

Around the house

We’ve been homebodies a ton the last few weeks. No need to leave when there’s so much to do right here.

Lars’s newest trick is pulling our kitchen stools over. Ouch!

Stay 4 forever

I know I just posted about our boys, but I’ve just got to dedicate another post to our oldest.

I am so amazed by the amount of knowledge Miles is sucking up right now. I knew this was coming but didn’t expect it to happen so quick. He’s had 3 piano lessons. His grandma (my mom) is his teacher. How awesome is that?? He practices the piano 10 to 15 minutes a day. That’s all it takes! He’s learned coordination, scales and notes. I can’t believe how quick he’s becoming a little musician. He’s assigned a reading book 2 nights a week from preschool, and he learns to read it. He’s reading! Not just sight words either. He’ll look at the picture on the page, sound out the first letter of a word and work his way through a sentence. Luke and I both work with him for 10 to 20 minutes a day. That’s all it takes, and he’s reading! Along with all the work he’s doing at preschool. He’s got a great teacher.

His personality is growing also. He’s always loved hanging out with a crowd of friends. He use to have a lot of anxiety though in new situations or if he wasn’t familiar with who he was with. I mean like near panic attacks. It took a ton of patience to help him feel comfortable. This year has been a complete turn around for him. He loves new people, places, and activities. I’m beginning to think he might enjoy Disneyland or even be able to handle going to a Sun’s game. In the past those would have completely freaked him out.

So I really wanted to share his talent of the night. He’s riding without training wheels!

(Keep your sound OFF so you don’t have to hear my cheering. You can see it, but he’s got the hugest grin and the louder I call at him the bigger his smile gets. Love it!)

He’s nearly 5, so it’s about time, but he never wanted to try before. Just wasn’t’ interested in it and was afraid of getting hurt. He loves his bikes, mostly his big wheel. I bet Luke that if he’d spend 10 minutes every night working with him without the training wheels, Miles would have it. It only took 3 days! Miles was so worried that Luke would let go the first 2 days, so he couldn’t focus on balance. Once he learned he could catch himself by simply putting his foot out, he was off!!

We are so proud of him. Sorta wish he could stay 4 forever, but he’s not having it.
