6 Month Old Lyla

Our beautiful baby is 6 months old today.

Lyla is a sweet piece of yummy cuddles. Don’t be fooled, she’s not sitting up yet… If I prop her legs just right, she can balance for a few moments for a cute photo.

DSC_5338  We are celebrating this week by traveling to UT to finalize her adoption in Salt Lake City. I spoke with Lyla’s maternal birth grandmother last week, so I’m feeling at ease with this finalization because of the knowledge that Lyla’s birth family continues to be happy with their decision to place her in our home. We are so fortunate to have loving support from them.

This gorgeous girl has recently discovered how cute she is and loves to look at herself in mirrors (that’s her reflection in her exersaucer mirror).

She remains the most easy-going baby. Her favorite place to be is resting on my shoulder while chewing on my shirt. She snuggles in nice and tight. She likes for me to get really close and talk to her while she strokes my face and coos back at me. She’s learning to brace herself when Masie comes running at her wanting kisses. Miles loves to make her laugh by bouncing her in the bouncer. She might end up being a little dare-devil since she likes to be tossed just a little in the air and will giggle away. Her skin is smooth and soft and I feel like I can never give her enough kisses.

Happy 6 months my darling Lyla.

Wednesday Before Thanksgiving

So I’m behind on pictures… nothing new.

We let the kiddos play at the park and lunch at what Miles calls “Old McDonald’s.”

Miles wanted me to give him an underdog on the swings at the park. When his cousin Noel heard his request and how high he went flying, she asked very politely if I would give her an “undercat.” Made my day :)

Tuesday before Thanksgiving

Going out 2 days in a row is practically unheard of with my young crew of 3 kids… but we made it with the help of my youngest brothers and Tommy’s family.

We spent Tuesday at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. I have to admit it was fun but not worth the admission fee. I even had to fork over $9 for 16 month old Masie. The kids had fun which is the most important thing, but the place really isn’t very big, and we saw everything and were back home by naptime.

Well, getting back home by naptime did make my day.DSC_4986 DSC_4966DSC_4956 DSC_4960 DSC_4965  DSC_4975 DSC_4976

Solids

At 5.5 months, Lyla got her first taste of solid food in the form of rice cereal, yummah! Every bite was spit back out and spooned back in about 5 times, but she got through her first bowl. If her eating habits are going to be anything like her personality, she’ll be easy to please. Think there’s hope?DSC_4617

Monday before Thanksgiving

I am so excited to have all of my family here for Thanksgiving. We started out the week with a trip to the Phoenix Zoo.

“Might I Have a Bit of Earth?”

That was said by Mary in The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, one of my favorite books.

We’ve found our bit of earth and we’re excited to build on it… some day. We love the house we own now, but we’re outgrowing it. We’ll keep hold of this lot until the market is right for us to sell and build another dream home.

The night we closed on the land we celebrated with a picnic dinner on our bit of earth.
